Great Ways To Improve Your Search Engine RankingGreat Ways To Improve Your Search Engine Ranking

  • Providing Proper Meta-Tags
  • Keeping Home Page File Size Low
  • Increasing your Popularity Rating

Providing Proper Meta-Tags
Virtually all search engines use your Meta-Tags in one form or another. Not having these tags in place or using them incorrectly, can have dramatic effects on not being listed by the search engines, even if you paid to be listed. Doesn't sound fair? Consider this...If you paid big bucks to attend a fancy dinner with all kinds of Hollywood stars, and showed up in jeans and a t-shirt, you won't get in. You need to be properly prepared. Even though you might pay for search engine inclusion, if your site isn't prepared, you won't get in. For an in depth explanation, plus a Meta-Tag Analyzer and Meta-Tag builder, see "All About The Proper Use Of META TAGS".

Keeping Home Page File Size Low
The size of your home page consists of the HTML file, all graphics being loaded and all scripts being imported. If this becomes too large, search engines might time out when reading your page and skip you. Even if you have the most perfect Meta-Tags and verbiage throughout the page, none of that will matter if your page is skipped. Keep the total size of your Home page to less than 125,000 bytes. For a more detailed explanation of how to reduce the size of your page, see "Reducing Your Page Size"

Increasing your Popularity Rating
For most search engines, part of your ranking with them is based upon how popular you are. Your popularity is determined by how many sites are linked to you. The more sites that link to your site, the higher your popularity rating. The logic is based upon providing searchers with what they want. If a lot of sites are linked to you, you must be of value. For a more detailed explanation of how to increase your popularity, see "Increasing Your Sites Popularity"
