As you dream of spring, keep these earth-wise gardening tips in mind.
 |
Conserve water by grouping plants with similar moisture needs, then watering during the cool, calm hours of early morning. This would work for me except that I'm a late sleeper. |
| |
 |
This spring, devote more yard space to ground covers, which have low moisture requirements. Actually, ground covers are fine but I like more color. |
| |
 |
Rely on natives and wildflowers. Plants that are indigenous to your region are accustomed to your climate and soil type, and they're immune to pests and diseases. This one seems like I may be able to keep it. |
| |
 |
Say no to bugs with nontoxic controls. Predatory insects, such as ladybugs, praying mantises, and lacewings, keep bad bugs at bay. Last summer we had tons of ladybugs inside the house! |

Keep a garden diary. I start one each year and it works for about two months and then something happens and I forget to continue. This I really hope to improve upon. |
Ok, that's about all the resolutions I can handle this year. During this "winter break", we can give our Houseplants more attention.
I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year full of peace and good health.
