The Nightowl Crafters is a labor of love of Australian Artist and Crafter, Vickie J. She's been crafting full time for the past 11yrs with decorative painting taking up the majority of the last 6yrs and teaching for nearly 2. Nothing in their home is safe from her loaded paint brush or the ever ready hot - glue gun. Her experiences are never ending in a world of colour. This is where her motto comes into it all, and she hopes that you will join her in..... Let Us, Paint A World Of Color.
The Nightowl Crafters website is a wonderful array of Folk-Art presentations, samples, tips and services, all wrapped up in a cheerful and warm atmosphere. I am always in awe with those that can create realistic and beautiful pieces of art. Vickie J. is a very gifted artist. I've highlighted a few of her pieces below, taken from one of her many galleries. Be sure to visit her website for her complete line of art.
Still Life in Oils. This was my first attempt at oils and I must say that it was a very easy medium to work with. Heaps of time for blending and any errors are easily errased. The mural measures 50cm wide X 65cm high and is painted on a door of a small cabinet. Designer: Sherry C. Nelson MDA

Please enjoy my first oil painting done on my own....done for my son's 18th....the leopard is on A3 oil paper canvas. It was easier than I thought it was going to be. I borrowed 3 oil painting videos from a art supply shop to get the basic gist of how to paint in oils. Brought a very simple beginner oils set of paints 6 colours + white was brought seperately. My patience was tested as the wait time between coats took there tole. Overall the painting took 9 hrs but 3 days allowing for dry time.

This small cupboard (55cm High x 42cm Wide x 20cm Deep) was made by my husband for our engagement. It was then folk painted by me with Australian Red Flowering Gum nuts and Golden Wattle. It sits in our lounge room and the date of our engagement painted on the top molding is a friendly reminder for my hubby.
