YOU WILL NEED:

12' - 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe
4 - Schedule 40 3/4" PVC pipe Ts
4 - Schedule 40 3/4" PVC pipe elbows
4 - Schedule 40 3/4" PVC pipe caps
4 - 1" Two Hole Straps
13" x 15" piece of 1" pine board (We cut ours from a 16" x 36" glued pine board)
Spray paint (We used Krylon Banner Red Gloss 2108)
1 Decorated pair of children's blue jeans (We used size 10)
Coordinating material (For tie belt)
Old tennis shoes
14 - #8 x 1/2" screws
Drill with 3/32" bit
Sand paper
Utility knife
Rubber mallet
Saw

HOW TO DO IT:

Note: Make sure when attaching elbows and Ts that they are pounded all the way in. This will keep the table level and make the use of glue unnecessary.

  1. Cut four sections of pipe 26 3/4" long.
  2. Tap the center hole of a T into one end of each of these pipes.
  3. Tap an elbow into the other end of each of these pieces. Make sure the elbow is at right angles to the T on the other end. These are the legs.
  4. Cut two sections of pipe 7 1/2" long. These are the crossbars. The PVC pipe frame under the jeans.
  5. Slide one end of a crossbar into one of the elbows of a leg. Tap in place.
  6. Attach a leg to the other side of the crossbar.
  7. Repeat with the other crossbar and legs. You now have two sections that resemble upside down U's. Place them in front of you side by side. Look at the Ts at the bottom of the sections. An open hole should be facing up at you, one on each leg.
  8. Cut two pieces of pipe 1 1/4" long.
  9. Work on the first "U" section. Tap one of the 1 1/4"pieces you just cut into the open hole on a T (left side of the U section). Tap the other piece into the other hole (right side of the same U section).
  10. Pick up the U section on the right (The one you didn't tap the 1 1/4" sections in). Place it on top of the first U section. The open ends of the Ts will slide over the open ends of the 1 1/4" sections attached to the bottom U. Tap together.
  11. Cut four 2 1/2" pieces of pipe.
  12. Attach a cap to one end of each of these pieces. Set aside.
  13. Use saw or sand paper to round the corners on the top of the table.
  14. Sand the top of the table smooth and slightly round all edges.
  15. Follow manufacturer's instructions to paint the table. Allow the paint to dry.
  16. Place the tabletop face down.
  17. Center the table frame upside down on the tabletop.
  18. Place a Two Hole Strap over each of the inside arms of the Ts. Screw in place to the bottom of the tabletop.
  19. Slide jeans over the frame. Zip and snap jeans together.
  20. On the front of the table drill three holes through the jeans and into the PVC pipe. Thread the screws into the holes.
  21. Repeat on the backside of the table.
  22. Use a piece of coordinating material for a tie belt. Screws are put through the jeans and into the PVC pipe frame.
  23. Attach the capped pieces from step 13 to the last open end of the Ts. These are the supports.
  24. Use utility knife to cut the tennis shoes to fit over the PVC pipe supports. Remove a strip of sole 1" wide starting 1/2" from the toe all the way across through the heel of the shoe. Cut another strip down the heel to the hole in the sole.
  25. Slide the tennis shoes over the front supports.

Note: The table can be attached to the wall with small L brackets (under the top) to prevent any possibility of tipping.
