All artists wish to connect with the people who view their work. The connection may be positive, negative or even passive, but the connection is a requirement for a successful work of art.
Aside from the traditional methods of connecting such as style, color, theme, composition and other factors associated with making images, there are other methods available due to the advancing technology of our day.
One great connection available today is the internet. Millions of people can view the artwork of an artist simply by clicking a mouse in the comfort of their home. Those same people are able to communicate directly with the artist via email, chat, interactive online activities and so much more. Painter Donald Watson has fully embraced this wonderful opportunity. The collectors of his artwork can ask for any type of information regarding his work and can even make suggestions for future projects.
"Another advantage of living in our day", says Donald, "is the remarkable advances that have been made in the printing process of artwork. Today we can enjoy Giclee (pronounced ZheeClay) reproductions of artworks. The Giclee printing process is far superior to printing processes of the past delivering stunning reproductions, rich in color, that are often very difficult to distinguish from original works." The Giclee printing process allows painter Donald Watson to connect more effectively with his collectors.
One rather unique method he has used to connect with his collectors is his famous 381. In all his reproductions you can find a 381 very subtly placed somewhere within the image. 381 is a simple coded message that packs a powerful connection. Donald suggests to try this if you will: Take a blank sheet of paper and write 381 on it as large as it will fit. Place the paper where you know that special person in your life will pass by. When that special person notices it and asks: "What does this 381 mean?", tell them "I’m glad you asked. 381 stands for 3 words, 8 letters, 1 meaning, I LOVE YOU." Donald says,"I think you will immediately realize the powerful connection of 381. Just think of the possibilities associated with giving one of these reproduction as a gift to someone you love."
Fine Art Prints are connecting with people, so if you are ever in the neighborhood, please stop by for a visit.

Written in no-nonsense builders' language, this new book is a must-have guide when you start to plan your next house construction project.
Before The Architect - e-author, i-master, well-noted in architectural and construction consulting, design, and drafting of residential, light commercial and industrial building projects - introduces PDF downloads of its brand new "House Construction Design Standards," now 37 pages of first-time ever together how-to guidance in getting the new home, remodel, and home improvement construction quality that home owners and buyers deserve.
"House Construction Design Standards" targets house design for safety, durability, and convenience. "It's a no-nonsense reference. It's quick and easy to tailor line-by-line in prints and plans. It can save development time, money. It can protect consumers and builders, laying out options. It can make clients' and contractors' lives easier," lists Before The Architect principal, Ralph Pressel. "Twice 30+ years' experience goes into 9 key areas, over 200 entries, plus my sage advice from life's granite knee on building most anything. These are opinions on the better and best in practice and in print - the kinds of things we'd rather not have learned the hard way or couldn't believe our eyes on a building site, remodel, or repair. We compiled these standards over the years; we use them, add, modify them in our work all the time. This could be the beginning of the end to finger-pointing and hard feelings in house construction."
TheContractorsGroup.com's website is by and for contractors, providing all the construction management solutions needed to tame the paperwork beast so construction projects run smoothly. It offers construction legal forms, tutorials, industry links, forums, legal connections, and more. A free newsletter updates contractors on site and form developments, construction world news, etc.
"House Construction Design Standards," currently 37 pages, goes for $19.95 (PDF or hard copy). The PDF has a subscription to 3 free quarterly downloads. Hard copy adds $5.00 S&H in the US. You can check it out in expanded examples (in their site's Design Consulting section on their site under Design Standards) along with Before The Architect's whole website at http://www.beforethearchitect.com.
