A lifetime of memories for children are being granted by an area wish foundation in our backyards. This year, the southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation celebrates 15 years of granting wishes to seriously ill children in the Delaware Valley.
The true impact of a wish cannot be measured in dollars and cents. Yet, the Make-A-Wish Foundation relies on the generosity of individuals and corporate supporters to provide the funding and in-kind resources necessary to create an amazing wish experience for each and every wish child. Our pledge is to grant every eligible child's wish. With your help, the Make-A-Wish Foundation will continue to reach more of the special children we serve and grant their one favorite wish.
A wish is limited only by the child's imagination. However, the Make-A-Wish Foundation does follow policies and guidelines in granting a wish. The physician also plays a major role in determining whether the child's condition will allow for particular wishes to be coordinated. However, there may be requests that are beyond the realm of control of Make-A-Wish and subject to rules and regulations of outside entities. In those cases, a secondary wish is requested of a child. It is the policy of Make-A-Wish to never deny the child the power and magic of a wish.
Most wish requests fall into four major categories: "I want to go . . . ," "I want to be . . . ," "I want to meet . . . ," or "I want to have . . . ." A large percentage of all wishes are for Disney World/Disneyland. Others wish to meet a favorite movie star, rock star or athlete. Others may wish for a special gift: a computer, a TV, or a tree house. And others wish to be someone for a day: a fireman, a police officer, or a model, for instance. The Make-A-Wish foundation always does there best to make the wish come true.
We'd like to formally say "Thank You" to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and to all the volunteers who participate in making wishes come true. You too can help. Check out the information below and help somebody's wish come true.
